How Advanced Internet Technologies (AIT) Permanently Lost A Customer Why I Switched Hosting Companies

The following list are excerpts from my actual Advanced Internet Technologies, Inc. (AIT) trouble ticket correspondence related to web hosting service failures experienced in the year before I dumped AIT and switched to Hostgator. Based on my experience so far, Hostgator has turned out to be a much better deal, both financially and, more importantly, in terms of reliability and server uptime. You might ask: if I was getting the crummy service and poor reliability from AIT that is documented below why on earth didn't I switch hosting companies earlier? The answer is complicated. As the following trouble ticket log attests, AIT kept promising it would fix the reliability related problems I was encountering. At first, those promises sounded credible. What's more, I found it hard to believe, I guess I just couldn’t or wouldn’t accept it, that they would really be in the business of selling me something – reliable web hosting, which is what they promised -- that they could not or would not deliver. I figured they'd simply have to fix the problems or they'd have no business. Silly me. After a while, though, it became painfully obvious that AIT’s reliability was not getting any better. My web site and email were down quite regularly. Like many personal and small business web site owners, however, I initially thought it would be difficult to switch hosts because of the relative complexity of my site, which was originally designed and coded by someone else years ago, and my inability to move all my databases intact without expert help. When I finally found a hosting company that
would do all that for me, Hostgator, I jumped at the opportunity
to leave AIT. I followed Hostgator's instructions for a zero
percent down time site migration. As you can see if you are reading
this, it all worked just fine. In fact, thanks to Hostgator I've even noticed that clicks on my Google Adsense links are going back up again now that more of my site's pages load when clicked on from a search engine. Isn't that amazing? I mean, a website works better when the pages load? Who'd a ever thunk it... If you don't want to read all these excerpts below from my last 12-month AIT web hosting trouble ticket log, which were copied below just for fun while waiting on AIT technical support hold one last time, I have also compiled a list of the actual excuses AIT cited for service failures I experienced during this period here. One final note: I have deleted the names of the individual technical
support personnel who responded to these incidents because I don't
think it fair to blame them for the corporate and marketing policies
that led to these ongoing and systemic failures. And remember, these
are just some of the service outages I experienced
during this recent approx. 12 month period. Most other service outages,
and they were

DOWN I was able to successfully resolve halplotkin.com internally as well as externally. I have also created a test email account and was able to send/receive without issue. I have checked your SMTP, POP, FTP and HTTP services which all returned typical results. This may have been a temporary interruption due to maintenance. I apologize for this inconvenience and I thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this matter. If you are still unable to access your email or resolve your site please preform a tracert and provide the results so that we can troubleshoot where the root of this problem is stemming. AIT’s system administrators discovered an issue with our primary name server this morning which caused significant degradation of service for many customers. They then discovered an unrelated issue that was corrected a short time ago. All services have now been confirmed operational. DOWN At approximately 7:45am this morning, AIT
discovered a problem on their primary name server. Significant
packet loss in data transfer was found, resulting in customer complaints
of limited to no access to their services. System engineers & network
administrators worked together to replace a network switch, and
returned proper data routing to normal. All services have been

DOWN looks like you are having server load issues? can you fix this and
restore reliable service today? There was an issue with the firewall script
on the machine, in which caused this dilema. I apologize for the

I did not ask for or authorize my service to be stopped. What's more, it is a great inconvenience to me to have to continueally monitor my website to make sure the services I am paying for are actually being provided.
